Pre-Listen: S S S S’ This Terrible Virtue Of Forgiveness

Swiss producer and zweikommasieben-affiliate Samuel Savenberg aka S S S S returns to Milan’s Haunter Records for a third release. The EP Absence will be out on February 15th—we premiere the third track “This Terrible Virtue of Forgiveness” exclusively.

With 2014’s Administration of Fear, Samuel Savenberg aka S S S S has established early ties to Milan-based Haunter Records. Since then, the label has seen its fair share of releases by a growing list of artists working within the realms of the various European underground scenes—from Milan’s Petit Singe and London-based John T. Gast, to German (shooting) stars Broshuda and most recently Ausschuss.

Following his last tape on Haunter, Just Dead Stars for Dead Eyes (2015), which has seen a re-release on vinyl through Remo Soland’s Hallow Ground label afterwards, the new EP Absence could be considered the spiritual successor to Savenberg’s earlier work. Consistent with Savenberg’s production ethos and sonic aesthetic, the new release rejects to celebrate the immediacy and kinship between an imagined community of fellow listeners (or even dancers) that is still eminent in the realms of club culture. The remnants of a techno music he constructs are neither an attempt to deconstruct nor to reject this celebration of an experienced (co-)presence in clubs (and other “safe” spaces)—they rather speculate on how it could sound once they’ve been deserted.

We’re premiering the third track on the EP here, called “This Terrible Virtue of Forgiveness”, which also has seen a remix-treatment by fellow Swiss producer Gil

S S S S’ Absence is up for pre-order now on the Haunter Records Bandcamp—either as a physical or digital record.
